"How they still come for you even when you play by
their rules"
Magneto
Just when you thought X-Men 97 creator and Beau DeMayo was
done calling out Marvel, the former showrunner of the critically acclaimed
series doubles down when discussing the toxic environment, he experienced that
was nothing short of soul crushing!
But Demayo drops some heavy gems in his video by calling out
those within the animation wing of Marvel Studios as well as the oligarchs.
(Kevin Feige, perhaps)
Beau mentions how Marvel made several attempts to sabotage
him via painting him to be angry, narcissistic and too much of a fanboi when he
was just following his passion for the iconic franchise.
Demayo cites how he witnessed something that were wrong and
reached out to the higher ups at Marvel Studios, they nonchalantly dismissed
his concerns. Then there's some disclosure that one of the shows leads is
having a sexual relationship with a PA.
Also how Marvel execs ignore Demayo being bullied because
the individuals who harass him are too talented to punish or let go.
Then there was Beau's pitch for the planned yet scrapped
Blade reboot, in front of table of White men, they unabashedly joke about
"hey, look at us, we hired a young Wesley Snipes to write the Blade
movie" When Demayo looks nothing like Snipes.
The execs also balked at a interracial relationship between Storm and a Caucasian which the deemed it "Creepy" and that Storm should "Crack the whip"
There is so much to take in that you need to watch the video
and judge for yourself. That "barbecue" comment shows the banality of
certain individuals who get too comfortable when making very insensitive jokes.
How Demayo took it on the chin, proves that he's not the big
black gay villain Marvel Studios made him out to be.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if these accusations are
true especially in regard to the entertainment industry full of White patriarchs
who often exploit Blacks and other marginalized groups because when Hollywood
is done with their tools, they often BREAK them! Just look at Rob Liefeld
recently announcing that he will no longer work for Marvel after his
mistreatment from the Deadpool and Wolverine red carpet screening.
